Instructions in the case of electricity power cuts
The exceptional situation in the electricity market is causing uncertainty in the adequacy of electricity. Electricity power cuts during the winter are likely to occur. Electricity power cuts will be local with an estimated duration of approximately two hours at a time.
If OSAO receives information about an electricity power cut in advance:
-
A Wilma message will be sent to everyone. Information is also available on OSAO’s web page.
-
The school day consists of independent study time with tasks provided by the teacher. All competence areas are not dependent on electricity, and these competence areas will be given separate instructions by the Head of Unit.
If an electricity power cut occurs unexpectedly during the school day:
-
Teaching will end for the day and students begin independent study time. All competence areas are not dependent on electricity, and these competence areas will be given separate instructions by the Head of Unit.
-
OSAO’s staff members ensure that students can exit the school building safely and go home.
-
Telephone network works for 2 to 6 hours after the electricity power cut has started. Text messages are a reasonably reliable way to communicate during a power cut.
-
Unnecessary use of front doors should be avoided to prevent heat from escaping.
-
Using toilets and water is forbidden. Using sewers to run water is forbidden. Portable toilets will be delivered to OSAO’s units in case of electricity power cuts.
-
Elevators will stop working. Janitors will assist people with disabilities.
-
Lights will turn off both inside and outside. Heating and air conditioning will stop.
-
Information network will stop working.
